SGP »Slovenija ceste« obstaja od leta 1947, ko je bilo ustanovljeno z namenom, da gradi ceste in mostove. V letu 1953 je bilo podjetje preimenovano v Splošno gradbeno podjetje — SGP »Slovenija ceste«, in z novo registracijo se je njegovo področje dejavnosti razširilo tudi na industrijske, poslovne in stanovanjske zgradbe. Od svoje ustanovitve je podjetje širilo svojo proizvodnjo in delovne kapacitete, v skladu z investicijsko politiko republike. V svojem tridesetletnem razvoju je zgradilo pomembne objekte in doseglo izredne rezultate. Danes so »Slovenija ceste« močno angažirane zlasti na področjih: nizke in visoke gradnje, obdelava talnih površin, proizvodnja gradbenega materiala in izdelava strojne opreme za gradbeništvo.

The enterprise »Slovenija ceste« has existed since 1947 when it was founded with the aim to construct roads and bridges. In the year 1953 the enterprise was renamed into General Building Enterprise — SGP »Slovenija ceste«, and with the new registration it extended its field of activities also to the construction of industrial, resident, and apartment buildings. Since its establishment the enterprise »Slovenija ceste« has enlarged its production and working capacities, dependant on the investment policy of the Republic. In the course of its development over the past 30 years the enterprise has constructed numerous constructions and has achieved valuable results. Today, the scope of activities that »Slovenija ceste« are engaged in is very wide, including: civil engineering, surface construction, production of construction materials, and production of equipment for construction.
