Hydraulic power plant HE Srednja Drava I

Synopsis
The article first considers the importance of the river Drava for Yugoslav electric power economy and gives detailed hydrographic data concerning the energetic exploitation of the river. Owing to its inclination being constantly above 1 %o and its favorable geological conditions the river Drava in also siutable for the construction of electric power plants in its intermediate part between Maribor and Legrad. In proceeding the author considers the disposition of the power plant Srednja Drava 1, which represents a combined type of river-channel power plant with its dam in Melje near Maribor. The different paragraphs of the article give some technical data on the dam in Melje,
the feed channel in the length of 17 km, the engine house at Zlatoličje, situated at a distance of 2 km from the river, the discharge channel in the length of 6 km with a depth of 24 m at the engine house, the accumulation bassin at Maribor exdending from Melje to the Mariborski otok power plant. The article finally discusses the problems of the agriculture in connection with the construction of the power plant, road trafic as well as the general energetic and economic importance of the power plant Srednja Drava 1, particularly for the covering of the daily peak values of the electric power consumption of the Slovenian and partly Croatian electric power economy.
